In Year 8, students study the life of Jesus and its effect on Christians today.

Students in Year 9 study "What it means to be a member of a faith community living in Britain as we approach the twenty-first century" and Year 9  students visit places of worship in Liverpool and research the places of Christian worship in their own locality.

In Year 10, students opting for Religious Studies study AQA (N.E.A.B) syllabus B. Section 1A covers Christianity and Section 2A covers the effects of Christianity on behaviour, attitude and lifestyle.

In core R.E, studied by all students, the course covers four modules. Students work towards the AQA (N.E.A.B)  Unit A award scheme.

In the Sixth Form 'A' and 'AS' level students follow the O.C.R (U.C.L.E.S) Christian Theology Modular Course which consists of six modules:-

New Testament, Theology II, Christian understanding of God, Faith and Reason plus three ethics modules.

Also in the Sixth Form, as part of the General Studies lesson and Core R.E., ethical and philosophical issues are covered.

The Religious Education Department were key in the organization of a weekend residential conference for students from all Chester schools who are studying 'A' level Christian Theology. G.C.S.E. students participate in an annual conference where many aspects of the course are discussed.

The Department is out-going and seeks ways of relating 'faith education' to the life of our students. The school Charity Council is chaired by a member of the department. The Department organises the distribution of hampers to elderly people each Christmas and students are encouraged to be actively involved serving other people.

The school has a Christian group which is led by the Chester Schools Christian Worker who is affiliated to 'Scripture Union'.

Finally, students are encouraged to see religion as a dynamic force in the world and to appreciate the variety  of religious beliefs and how these affect the lives of members of faith communities.
