| Duke
Of Edinburgh Award Scheme Training-6th to 8th March. Both
the Gold and Silver Duke of Edinburgh groups visited Anglesey and the
Conway Centre to train for their respective awards. Activities included
map reading, bearing taking and a long walk to end with. A good time
was had by all involved. The Bronze group participated in similar activates
in November. Head Boy and Girl Elections- 13th March. Christleton High School has a team of Lower Sixth Formers, who organize events for the Sixth Form and represent the students at governors' meetings. With the present team retiring after Easter, a new team was needed to replace them. The Sixth Form votes for the candidates themselves; they know who will do the job best. Hospital Visit-13th March. As part of the National Science and Technology week, a visit was organized to the Countess of Chester Hospital. Ten students from Year Ten were guided around various departments within the hospital in an attempt to encourage them to pursue a career in medicine. Geography and Environmental Studies Field Trips-16th to 27th March. All students studying Geography and Environmental Studies are given the unique opportunity to take a three day-long field trip to Anglesey, staying overnight. Each student participates in activities such as percolation rate finding, sand sampling, soil sampling and also wave measurement. Results from all experiments done will be written up and sent off as coursework for G.C.S.E's. Charles Mack Memorial Concert-20th March. This is a concert performed by members of the school orchestra, wind band, choir and various other groups that are taught instruments in school time. It is held in honour of a previous village rector and his son who sadly died. This year, funds went to the Christleton village millennium fund. |
